A very leisurely day December 8

by Carolyn

With enough practice I could get really good at this...doing nothing! Today was a reading and spa day.

I’m enjoying my second novel by Celestine Viate, a Tahitian writer who now lives in Australia. Her first three novels: Breadfruit, Frangipani, and Tiara, “describe life in contemporary Tahiti from an insider perspective, through anecdotes and with great humor.” Through the down-to-earth characters in her novels, she shares dozens of interesting details about everyday life in Tahiti and based on a few casual conversations I’ve had with locals, she is spot on.

I've been using iNaturalist to learn some flowers...granted, these are all planted in the immaculate grounds of our hotel, but they would be common garden plants throughout French Polynesia.
